BLACKWING x TeXtreme®
Blackwing is redefining ultralight aviation with Swedish-built aircraft that combine lightweight strength, speed and safety with Scandinavian design excellence, setting new standards for performance, precision and the joy of flying.
A Childhood Dream Takes Flight
The story of Blackwing begins not in a factory but in the imagination of a young boy. For Niklas Anderberg, fascination with aviation started at the age of three and grew stronger with every year. At seven, he experienced his first flight from Sövde airfield in Skåne, a moment that sparked a lifelong passion. Years later, after studying aeronautical engineering at KTH in Stockholm and working in both a U.S. wind tunnel and at Saab in Linköping, Niklas returned to a student project that would change his future. What began in his garage developed into something extraordinary, a sport aircraft that combined elegance with remarkable performance.

Building the Perfect Aircraft
Niklas envisioned a plane that carried the feeling of a glider while offering the range and practicality of a touring aircraft. Together with his father Yngve and a small team of designers and engineers, this vision became reality. After four years of dedicated development, Blackwing emerged as a modern, carbon-fiber aircraft that stood apart for its safety, agility, and beauty. From the very first flights, it was clear that this was more than a prototype, it was the start of a new chapter in ultralight aviation.

Designed for Performance and Beauty
Today, Blackwing operates from a 3,000 square meter facility at Landskrona airfield, where around 25 employees handle almost all of the manufacturing and assembly in-house. Precision and quality are at the heart of every aircraft, which reflects not only advanced engineering but also a refined sense of design. Large sections of the aircraft are finished in clear-coated carbon fiber, showing the distinctive pattern of TeXtreme®. The result is a machine that captures the eye as much as it impresses in the sky. With a range that allows flights from southern Sweden to southern France on a single tank and a cruise speed that rivals larger aircraft, Blackwing sets new standards for its class.

The TeXtreme® Advantage
Achieving this balance of speed, safety, and beauty required materials that deliver more than conventional composites. In both the fuselage and the wings, Blackwing uses TeXtreme® to maximize stiffness and minimize weight. Control surfaces are also reinforced with the same technology to achieve optimal precision. Structural testing showed that TeXtreme® provides significantly greater stiffness than standard carbon fiber, allowing the aircraft to be built lighter while maintaining exceptional strength.
The advantages of TeXtreme® extend into every flight. Reduced structural weight opens the door for advanced avionics and comfort features while still meeting strict ultralight weight requirements. At the same time, pilots experience an aircraft that is both agile and robust, delivering performance without compromise. Customers also appreciate the striking visual identity of TeXtreme®, which has become a hallmark of Blackwing aircraft and a symbol of Scandinavian design excellence.
Shaping the Future of Ultralight Aviation
Blackwing continues to look ahead. The company is preparing for certification in a higher European weight class, increasing the maximum takeoff weight without altering the aircraft’s structure. This step reflects the confidence that TeXtreme® brings to the design, providing strength reserves that support future growth. Blackwing is also exploring tailored TeXtreme® solutions to streamline production and reduce material waste, ensuring that its process remains as efficient and sustainable as possible.

Where Passion Meets Perfection
From the dreams of a child in Skåne to a state-of-the-art factory in Landskrona, Blackwing shows what happens when passion meets perfection. Through TeXtreme®, the company has created an ultralight aircraft that is lighter, faster, safer, and undeniably beautiful. For pilots across Europe, flying a Blackwing is not simply a way to travel, it is an experience shaped by vision, craftsmanship, and the finest materials available.
