STIGA Table Tennis x TeXtreme®

STIGA Table Tennis has elevated blade performance by integrating TeXtreme® into its premium carbon constructions. The result is a new level of speed, stability, and control, giving players a larger sweet spot, faster acceleration, and the precise feel needed to perform with confidence in every rally.

Where Heritage Meets High Performance Carbon Innovation

For more than 80 years, STIGA has shaped the evolution of table tennis. The company’s craftsmanship is rooted in a deep understanding of wood technology, spanning mastery of veneers, thicknesses, glue systems and flex behaviour. This expertise has earned the Swedish brand a reputation for blades that balance speed, control and feel at the highest level of the sport. Natural materials, however, present inherent limitations. The pursuit of even higher performance inspired STIGA to explore advanced composites, and TeXtreme® soon emerged as a decisive step forward.

Why TeXtreme® Elevated STIGA’s Premium Blades

STIGA set out to create blades that deliver greater speed and stability without losing the nuanced feedback that elite players rely on. TeXtreme® provided a unique combination of high stiffness and low weight, enabling constructions that generate powerful acceleration while preserving exceptional touch. The collaboration first took form in the Carbonado series, a family of six blades where we systematically explored both +/-45° and 0/90° fiber orientation and different fiber weight (gsm). By varying these parameters using TeXtreme®, STIGA were able to fine tune flex patterns, vibration behavior and sweet spot characteristics to suit a wide range of playing styles. Carbonado 45, created with TeXtreme® +/- 45, quickly became a favourite among world class athletes including leading players on the Chinese women’s national team.

TeXtreme® later became a defining feature of the Dynasty Carbon, a blade used at the very top of the men’s world rankings used by legends such as Xu Xin. The thicker core and harder outer plies gave it a more forceful and direct response compared to Carbonado 45, despite both models utilising the same TeXtreme® weight. This demonstrated how the material integrates naturally into STIGA’s wood driven design philosophy and adapts to different structural concepts.

The Power of a TeXtreme® and Innegra™ Hybrid

A further refinement arose when STIGA combined TeXtreme® with Innegra™, a high performance fibre valued for its vibration damping qualities. TeXtreme® contributes stiffness, rebound speed and an expanded sweet spot, while Innegra™ introduces a softer touch, smoother sensation and improved control through reduced vibration levels. The hybrid concept produces blades that feel explosive yet forgiving, powerful yet comfortable. Players frequently describe the sensation as solid and predictable, often noting that the ball sinks into the blade in a way that enhances touch and timing even during fast rallies.

Performance Gains That Players Can Feel

Integrating TeXtreme® has enabled STIGA to create lighter yet stiff blades that deliver faster acceleration and a larger, more consistent sweet spot. Reduced vibration and improved long term stability give players a predictable and reassuring feel that has earned strong feedback across all levels. Insights from research, including work carried out during the Cybershape project, have further clarified how geometry and fibre orientation shape vibration behaviour, helping STIGA refine blades that perform technically while offering a sensation players immediately trust.

Looking Ahead Smarter Hybrids, Lighter Constructions, New Possibilities

Future development focuses on new composite combinations, refined hybrid systems and construction methods that tailor performance to individual playing styles.  The long-term commitment to material innovation remains unchanged. TeXtreme® will continue to play a central role in shaping the next generation of high-performance table tennis blades and supporting STIGA’s pursuit of precision, power and feel.
