We’re excited to announce that Oxeon AB – TeXtreme® has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Countervail Products LLC.
Oxeon AB and Countervail Products LLC sign MoU to explore combining Spread Tow reinforcement with vibration-damping technology in one laminate.
Oxeon AB, the company behind TeXtreme®, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Countervail Products LLC. The partners will explore how ultra-light carbon fiber Spread Tow reinforcements and vibration-damping composite technology can be combined in a single laminate.
The agreement brings together Oxeon AB and Countervail Products LLC to explore a shared material-development opportunity: addressing structural performance and vibration damping within the same laminate.
TeXtreme® contributes its expertise in Spread Tow technology. By spreading carbon fibers into thin, flat tapes, this reinforcement architecture supports lightweight laminate design.
Countervail contributes its patented vibration-damping technology. The collaboration will investigate how that capability can be integrated with TeXtreme® reinforcements.
The partners aim to address weight, strength, stiffness, and vibration damping together, rather than treating each property as an isolated design requirement.
TeXtreme® carbon fiber reinforcements are among the lightest and thinnest on the market. Reducing structural weight, however, can involve trade-offs in vibration behavior, with implications for comfort, control, and precision.
By exploring a laminate that combines lightweight reinforcement with built-in damping, the partners aim to give designers another way to approach these competing requirements. The focus is on exploring the material combination, not announcing validated performance results or a finished product.
The partners see potential in sporting goods, where weight, vibration behavior, comfort, and control can all influence equipment design.
Aerospace is another potential application area for the exploration, alongside other demanding composite structures where low weight and vibration management matter.
The opportunity also extends to automotive, marine, and other composite applications. These sectors represent areas of interest for the collaboration, rather than confirmed deployments of a combined laminate.
We thank the Countervail team for sharing our vision of what high-performance composite structures can become. We look forward to the work ahead.
